Las Golondrinas
Our arrangements in Spain are with our old friend Fernando Bustamante. Fernando's hacienda is extremely comfortable with all guest rooms having private bathrooms. The hacienda is situated perfectly in the middle of Fernando's 45,000 acre estate. The partridges are wild and challenging to shoot and the terrain and habitat in Las Golondrinas consists of cork trees and rolling valleys. This is prime partridge country. All the shooting is within easy access of the hacienda.
The Bag
The anticipated bag is up to 1000 partridges per day and the team of guns can consist of either eight or up to ten participating guns. Shooting is with a pair of shotguns and each shooter has his own loader and also a secretario who keeps count of the number of birds shot. For safety reasons no ground game i.e. hares or rabbits, can be shot. We normally shoot for 3 days.
A Shooting Day
A days shooting will normally consist of 6-8 drives with a break at midday for lunch, which is served, in the field, in a suitable location, and consists of a selection of traditional Spanish ‘tapas’. Flamenco dancers will entertain the shooters and their guests on one of the evenings at Las Golondrinas.
Area & Accommodation
The drive from Madrid to Las Golondrinas is about 3 ½ hours by road. There are no train connections. Non-shooters will find many interesting activities in Madrid prior to and after the shooting at Las Golondrinas. South East Spain has many old castles and other interesting places to visit.
